About Maverick

Last updated: July 7, 2026

In early 2024, a small group of silicon engineers and AI researchers gathered in a San Francisco garage with a conviction that would strike most of the industry as heretical: intelligence shouldn't live in data centers. It should live in your home — on your desk, on your shelf, quietly running in the background of your daily life without ever phoning home. That conviction became Maverick.

We watched as the AI revolution reshaped every industry, yet noticed something that troubled us deeply: every breakthrough came with a hidden cost. Every voice assistant recorded your conversations. Every smart camera uploaded your living room to a server farm somewhere. Every “AI-powered” feature meant your data was leaving your house, traveling across the internet, and sitting on someone else's infrastructure — often without your meaningful understanding or consent. We believed there had to be a better way.

Our Mission

Maverick's mission is simple and unyielding: put AI in every home without sacrificing privacy. We exist to prove that artificial intelligence and personal privacy are not opposing forces — they are complementary ones. The most powerful AI should be the AI you trust, and the AI you trust is the one that runs entirely on hardware you own.

We are building privacy-first AI hardware — devices powerful enough to run large language models, computer vision systems, and autonomous agents locally, with zero cloud dependency. No data leaves your network. No API calls to external servers. No subscription fees tied to your personal information. Just a beautiful piece of hardware that brings the full power of modern AI into your living space, on your terms.

Our Team

Maverick was founded by a cross-disciplinary team that spans the full stack of AI hardware — from silicon design to systems architecture to machine learning research. Our core team brings deep experience from Apple, Google, NVIDIA, and other companies that have defined the current era of personal computing and artificial intelligence.

We are chip designers who have shipped billions of processors. We are ML researchers who have trained models that serve hundreds of millions of users. We are systems engineers who understand that the best technology is the technology that disappears into the background of your life. And we are designers who believe that a piece of hardware in your home should be something you're proud to display — not something you hide in a closet.

Today, our team is fewer than 50 people. We intend to stay small, focused, and deliberate about every hire. Every person at Maverick works on something that matters, and every voice shapes the product directly. We don't have layers of management or committees that dilute good ideas. We have a shared obsession with building something that genuinely changes the relationship between people and AI.

Our Values

Everything we build is shaped by four core values that we refuse to compromise on:

  • Privacy by Design. Privacy is not an add-on, a feature toggle, or a marketing claim. It is the architectural foundation of every product we build. From the silicon up, every component in a Maverick device is designed to ensure your data stays on your hardware. We do not collect, transmit, or monetize your personal information — period.
  • Open Ecosystem. We believe developers should be able to build on Maverick without asking for permission. Our platform is open, our APIs are documented, and our tools are free. We want a thriving community of builders creating agents, automations, and experiences that we haven't even imagined yet.
  • Radical Transparency. We publish our privacy practices, open-source what we can, and communicate openly with our community. When we make mistakes — and we will — we own them immediately and publicly. Trust is earned through consistency, not through PR.
  • Sustainability. We design hardware that lasts. Our devices are built with repairable, recyclable materials. We avoid planned obsolescence. We believe the most sustainable product is one you keep for years, and we engineer accordingly.

Our Facility

Maverick is headquartered in San Francisco, California, where our hardware, software, and AI research teams work under one roof. Our office is designed for focused, deep work — quiet spaces for engineering, open areas for collaboration, and a hardware lab equipped with the tools our team needs to iterate quickly on silicon and system design.

For manufacturing, we partner with world-class facilities in East Asia and North America that share our commitment to quality, sustainability, and fair labor practices. We maintain tight integration with our manufacturing partners — our engineers are on the factory floor regularly, ensuring that every Maverick device that ships meets the standards we set at our workbench in San Francisco.

We are proud of what we've built so far, and we're just getting started. If you share our belief that intelligence belongs at the edge, we'd love to hear from you.
